Tsukushi, a nearly 50-year old café, is a hidden gem among locals and a staple in the Hida Furukawa area. The brick exterior painted muted brown creates a cozy entrance, and the large black and white coffee sign out front speaks to the restaurant’s theme. The nostalgic interior is equally as relaxing, where you can meet the charming elderly couple who run the shop. Close to the station, Tsukushi is a great place to grab a bite to eat while waiting for your train.
Tsukushi serves a host of delicious breakfast items with its morning set of thickly sliced toast with jam or butter, a hard-boiled egg, vegetable salad, and cup of coffee providing a great energy boost at the start of the day.
