Ninomachi Yard

弐之町ヤード

Opened in August 2020, Ninomachi Yard is a 120-year old traditional white-walled storehouse that has been converted into a private accommodation facility which accepts up to one group at a time. The storehouse is located in the heart of Hida Furukawa, making it a great base for sightseeing.

The building’s vibrant white exterior and thick double doors, which were designed to protect it from fire, highlight its legacy as a storehouse. Inside, its interior reflects simplicity and tradition with tatami floors and rich wooden detailing. One of the building’s most unique features is its earthen floors on the second floor, which once helped the building maintain a stable temperature and humidity level for the stored foodstuffs.

The accommodation has all the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay, including a separate toilet and washroom, a washing machine, a kitchen, a living room, and a bedroom with futons for up to six people. The kitchen even comes stocked with original pancake mix from nonaca bakery—located in nearby Takayama. The facility encourages guests to enjoy a peaceful morning with freshly cooked pancakes!
