Michikusa is both a café and small theater located centrally in Hida Furukawa. The shop’s mint and tan colored exterior compliments the natural tones of its plant-lined walkway, as well as the distant Hida mountainscape. 

Travelers and locals alike stop by the establishment to refuel with its traditional eats. One of the most popular items is the zenzai, or red bean soup. The shop combines chewy sticky rice, boiled red beans, and sugar, to create a warm dessert that epitomizes comfort. 

For a more savory option that reflects the surrounding nature, customers can order the edible wild plants set, which is made with locally grown vegetables. Michikusa captures the essence of Hida’s countryside with simple dishes and a relaxing atmosphere.
