Miyagawa Ochiai Bus Stop

宮川落合バス停

As bus stops in Japan go, this might be one of the more famous ones. Looking like something from a Ghibli film, this bus stop beside the Miyagawa River is allegedly known to inspire a similar location in the anime movie, Your Name (君の名は).

Since 2015, the bus stop is no longer served by local buses, but the bus shelter remains and can still be visited. Its riverside location makes for several photo opportunities.

Essential Information

Access

Take a JR Tamayama Line train bound for Toyama from Hida-Furukawa Station and alight at Tsunogawa Station (after about 13 minutes). It’s then a 5-minute walk, crossing the Miyagawa River via Kawai Bridge. Please be careful of the trains.

If taking a rental car or taxi, it is about a 20-minute drive north of Hida-Furukawa Station.
