The Hida Kamioka Hatsu Kompira Yoi Festival, held on the fourth Saturday of February each year, is a rare winter night festival in the snowy region of Hida.
During the festival, participants carry Konpira talismans at the head of the procession, praying for prosperous business and household safety. The procession, led by the Kamioka Edo Kiyari Preservation Society and the Hida Kamioka Tekomai dancers, features a grand parade through Kamioka town center. It includes various elaborately crafted mikoshi portable shrines and creative floats (typically 10-15 groups each year), all heading toward Tounji Temple, home of Konpirado Hall.
Additionally, at the venue, performances by various groups and the distribution of sweets and other makimono (rolled) treats entertain spectators.
